The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) was originally incorporated as Dissatisfied Parents Together (DPT) in Washington, DC, on June 11, 1982, and was recognized as a 501(c)(3) exempt organization on August 14, 1982. The organization was reincorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia as the National Vaccine Information Center on January 6, 1995, and was again recognized as a 501(c)(3) exempt organization on that date.
The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is a small non-profit charitable educational organization incorporated and headquartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Since 1982, NVIC’s mission has been to promote and protect the health and welfare of children and adults by preventing vaccine injuries and deaths through public education and to represent the concerns of and assist vaccine injured individuals and their families. NVIC does not make vaccine use recommendations. NVIC defends the ethical principle of informed consent to medical risk taking and civil liberties that protect freedom of thought, speech and conscience to support educated, voluntary healthcare decision making.
NVIC is the oldest and largest consumer health organization in America providing information about vaccination, diseases and preventing vaccine injuries and deaths. NVIC supports independent scientific research into vaccine-associated deaths, injuries and chronic illness.

Three Websites: NVIC created and operates the NVIC.org,NVICAdvocacy.org and TheVaccineReaction.org websites to provide the public with well researched and referenced information on vaccine history, science, policy, law and ethics to facilitate educated vaccine decision making and encourage active citizen participation in the public policymaking and legislative process. The federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database can be accessed and searched through MedAlerts featured on NVIC’s website. These NVIC sponsored websites serve more than three million visitors every year.
Online Newsletter and Journal Newspaper. NVIC publishes two free digital periodicals: the monthly NVIC Newsletter and weekly journal newspaper, The Vaccine Reaction emailed to more than 65,000 subscribers.
Vaccine Information Kiosk. NVIC’s publication program also features vaccine information guides, brochures, posters, and in-depth special reports downloadable from the Ask 8 Information Kiosk and many may be ordered in print form by contacting us.
Vaccine Informed Consent Advocacy. NVIC operates a free online advocacy communications network, the NVIC Advocacy Portal, to educate and empower citizens at the grassroots level in every state to secure and defend informed consent protections in U.S. vaccine policies and laws. Every year, NVIC monitors hundreds of vaccine-related bills introduced in state legislatures, issues action alerts and publishes annual reports on the status of vaccine legislation during our annual Vaccine Awareness Week Event.
Media. NVIC issues press releases and offers perspective in media reports about vaccine topics.

Community Education & Counseling
Vaccine Reaction Registry and Counseling Service. Since 1982, NVIC has provided a unique vaccine reaction reporting and counseling service that offers one-on-one support for families reporting vaccine reactions, injuries and deaths. Today, NVIC responds to more than 6,000 email and phone requests from the public for vaccine information every year.
Speeches, Workshops, Conferences. NVIC coordinates and sponsors conferences on vaccination and provides speakers for and participates in vaccine education workshops and health conferences.
Monitoring Federal Agencies & Vaccine Advisory Committees
NVIC has a small staff of part time employees and volunteers who operate the organization on a day-to-day basis.
